Benediction

Kotaku and other news sites have reported that Sony has officially released an 80gb version of the PS3 as well as a very important $100 price drop on the 60gb version, making it $499.

This is fairly odd timing considering just a few days ago an official announcement denied a price cut. I don’t know if some wordsmithing technicality makes this legit; as if he (Ryoji Chubachi, president and chief executive at Sony) meant a world-wide price cut. If so, then it’s a little like Never Cry Wolv.

At the same time, today Bush hinted at serious plans to withdraw from Iraq. I’d rather avoid the spiraling political debate but isn’t there an odd bit of closure in the air today? Is this tension release day? Did I miss a worldwide benediction where massive issues for out-of-touch geeks suddenly lift off the air to the words of the Pope (en benidictus sony et marvulouso) and glow different shades of gold?

I suppose the Dreamcast will make a comeback tomorrow.
