iTrip, yay

CameoEX was kind enough to gift me something off of the wedding registry. By avoiding the wedding registry, he thereby saved me kitchen item, towel, sheet, appliance exposure. And for that he must be saluted.
*salute*
I was delighted to receive an iTrip. I had looked at S2000 + iPod thingies before but it’s tricky because the S2000 has some controls to the right of the steering wheel, not much space for cigarette chargers and XM support. I didn’t know which way I would go, but gladly accept this push in the right direction.
I rarely used my iPod. Walks, jogs … but the real killer is having rewritable media in your car. So away with you CDRs! Back to your archiving role! I have write, delete, rename powers now! Away with you!
I queued up some new music by an artist that rhymes with Mayer. iTunes, helpful as usual, syncs up podcasts which will make some good listening. Especially Diggnation, since I knew Alex Albriecht in High School (still crazy). But we’re getting off topic.
I picked an unused FM station and it popped up tunes on the radio. Simple, as many people have already experienced. iTrip doesn’t charge but rather sits wirelessly and sucks off the iPod battery. Fine by me, I don’t take long trips in my car. It is good.

Observe in horror! How it fits in the center console (which flips up and closes). Perfect! It’s a bit tight strip of elastic so we’ll see if I don’t snap off the iTrip connector. I might get some double sided velcro or something.
But even without double sided velco, Slayer reigned for a few seconds in my car. Slayer doesn’t need velco. And that’s a quote, god damn it. Slayer doesn’t need velco.
The only thing I would say needs work is the lack of documentation. It said nothing of how to change from mono to stereo. Or that you need to click the frequency changer in to make the choice stick. I think writing more clear instructions would be even easier than how easy it was for me to muddle through it. No problem, small complaint.

Most of the buttons are still usable although I won’t attempt any button pushing while driving because it’s placed exactly away from where I should be looking.
Should be happy commute time now. And for that I give a 1UP to CameoEX and his non-kitchen gift:

Greeeaat. Now my husband is lusting after a new expensive toy and he has yet to buy me any of the new games I want which are way cheaper than his stuff. Thanks.

The reception is pretty weak in certain situations. I’m still trying to find a really good FM frequency that comes in clear.

I would suggest 107.5 or something like 89.7…those seem to work best for my iTrip.
